Churchtown Home School Association (CHSA) was established in 1989 to encourage the link between home and school. All parents are welcome to join as members at our Annual General Meeting, which is held in September. There is a hard working team which includes a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Vice Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Treasurer. The Headteacher is the President to the CHSA and actively encourages this important link.
The CHSA meets approximately 9 times a year to organise the fund raising events. The most popular fund-raising events are for all the family, with the Christmas and Summer Fairs being particularly well supported. Some of our larger annual events require a considerable number of parents to assist the Committee to enable them to run smoothly. These parents have volunteered to be on our helper list, which is held by our Secretary. Parental support is vital to the life of this very popular school and for helping children to feel at home and happy in their learning environment.
Other events include Easter Bingo, Supper with Santa, The Monster Mash Party and the summer and Christmas Discos for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. For our younger children we fund an entertainer for their Christmas Party.
Since it’s foundation, the CHSA, with parental help, has raised a considerable amount of money to purchase many items of equipment for the school. These include interactive whiteboards, computers, and creative stationery. In addition the CHSA has provided funds towards playground art, the wooden shelter in the main playground, and most recently the new outdoor learning area being constructed at the rear of the early years building the children.
We are all always looking for new members to join the CHSA, if you are interested in coming along to see how we work please contact Vicky Stubbins, CHSA Secretary, vickystubbins@hotmail.com, for details of upcoming meetings
