Flying High at Stanley High School

Flying High at Stanley High School

Before half term, Year 6 pupils visited Stanley High School to watch a presentation by the Royal Air Force (RAF) focused on the ‘Physics of Flight’. They learned about many things such as lift , thrust and drag, virtual reality and how it came into the work there at the RAF . A favourite part of the presentation was looking at drones. Children were intrigued by them! They also listened to mini jet engines that were turned on outside of the hall to see how loud they were.

During the morning, they took part in a science lesson with Stanly HS teachers, conducting an investigation on a helicopter spinner and learned about how fast it would fall the more paper clips they added.

Year 6 had a wonderful morning and thank Stanley High School for thier invitation to take part in the morning session.
