Eco Champions

Welcome to the Eco Champions

Churchtown Primary School was the first school in Sefton to achieve the prestigious Eco-School Award.  It is a flexible and straightforward way to extend environmental lessons outside the classroom and apply them to day-to-day running of the school.  The Eco-Schools' Champions includes one child from each class in years 1-6, Mr Dowd and the Eco Governor.

An environmental review led to an Action Plan which is used regularly in Eco Champions meetings.  The whole school is involved in environmental issues and supports the School grounds development, recycling and the Eco-Code.

Professionals from the 'Tidy Britain Group' assessed the school in October 2001.  The Mayor of Sefton visited the school to congratulate pupils and staff on the presentation of their third Eco Flag. We are the first school in Sefton to receive this award for the third time.  In 2004 the school became only the 14th nationally to receive a fourth Eco Flag and a lifetime achievement award to environmental education. We have recently been awarded our next Green Flag Award and we hope to maintain this excellent status for our school. We now have 6 green flag wards in total!

In 2013 Churchtown's Eco Champions won Sefton's 'Eco team of the year' for all our hard work across the school. We were so proud of ourselves and can't wait to do more great 'green' work.
