Inspiring Role Models for Year 3
On Wednesday 13th September 2017, Year 3 were lucky enough to receive a visit from Steve Johnson and Everton in the Community team.
Steve Johnson is an inspiring Paralympian from Southport, who has won many medals and awards for his amazing sport achievements and work to inspire others and provide opprtunities for young people in the community.
Throughout the day, the children took part in many different workshops during which they learnt skills needed to take part in different Paralympic sports such as, blind football and sitting volleyball. The children also listened to Steve's life story and were able to ask him questions. Children described the day as “fun and interesting” and thought Steve was “inspiring and very talented”.
Thank you to Steve and his coaches for providing excellent, inclusive opportunities for the children at our school. Raising awareness of inclusive sports and disability awareness is something we hold close to our hearts at Churchtown Primary School and we are proud to call Steve a school friend and a local role model.
Steve believes you should never give up, adapt and live life to the fullest. Some changes are actually for the better, so embrace them.
