The PTA, or Parent Teacher Association, is a fundraising community that aims to provide equipment, facilities and experiences in support of School's values and its curriculum, that develop each child's soft skills and make their learning and school life a rich, enjoyable and rewarding experience.
With aims of raising £15,000 each year, the PTA offers a varied calendar of fundraising events and activities that appeal to children of all age groups and their families, and depends on Home volunteer support to plan, organise and run each event.
All parents, carers and grandparents are welcome to join as active members at any time.
Our Annual General Meeting held in September starts the year and sets out priorities for the three terms of the academic calendar. Overseeing this is a hard working leadership team of Home volunteers and teaching staff which includes
- Chair - Year 4 parent Lizzi Carless
- Vice Chair - Vacancy
- Secretary - Year 4 parent Gemma Gregory
- Vice Secretary - Vacancy
- Treasurer - Year 3 parent Rachel Ryan
- Vice Treasurer - Vacancy
- Presidents to the PTA and actively encouraging this important link, are Headteachers Belinda Taylor & Jinnie Payne
PTA Meetings & Events
The PTA meets approximately 6 times a year to organise fundraising events and activities, each is listed on the school calendar when scheduled.
The most popular fundraising events are for all the family, with the Summer Fair being the highlight of the year. This, and some of our larger events, require a considerable number of parents to assist the Committee in their set up and smooth running. These parents have volunteered to be on our helper list, and are notified of volunteering opportunities by email circulation
Parental support is vital to the life of this very popular school and for helping children to feel at home and happy in their learning environment.
- Monster Mash Party
- Christmas, Spring, and Summer Discos for Years 3 to 6.
- Easter Bingo
- Summer Fair
Since its foundation, the PTA has raised a considerable amount of money to purchase and contribute towards many items of equipment for the school. These include:
- interactive whiteboards
- classroom furniture
- creative stationery
- book shelves
- playground art
- playground shelter
- Early Years outdoor learning garden
- the school minibus
We are all always looking for new active members to join the PTA and volunteers to assist with the set-up, running and breaking-down of events. If you are interested in coming along to see how we work please contact PTA Chair Lizzi Carless by email on PTA@churchtown.org.uk for details. You can also visit and like us on Facebook for details of forthcoming meetings and events.
