Year 5's Victorian Day

On Wednesday, our Year 5 children were unexpectedly transported to the Victorian period where they had to experience the life of a Victorian child in school!

The children were very surprised when they came into school and were greeted by some rather strict teachers!  After paying handing over some money, they were registered with their Victorian names and sat down for lessons on the 3 Rs (Reading, wRiting, aRithmetic). Throughout the day, they had to stand and recite facts, perform a drill in the hall and participated in an 'observed lesson' that involved Victorian artefacts. The children were able to witness what life would have been like for the poor and wealthier children, as well as what happened to any children who did not follow the rules!

Although they were learning under much stricter conditions, the children had a great day! To see pictures, visit our gallery here.
