The Fire Brigade Visit Reception

Last week the Reception children were delighted to be visited by one of the crews from Southport Fire Station!

As part of their learning about people and roles in our community, it is important that our children recognise the people who help them, and begin to understand what to do in an emergency. The crew members came and spoke to to children about the job of a Fire Fighter. They also reminded the children how to stay safe by avoiding contact with fires.

The children found out about some of the equipment used to fight fires, and had the chance to try on a Fire Fighter's uniform. Every child also got to sit inside the Fire Engine, if they wanted to.

You should be proud of how sensible and well behaved the children were, and of how they all knew the number 999!
