Feisty Footballers Fly Through Merseyside Finals!

Today, the KS2 girls football team arrived at the Select Security Stadium in Widnes, ready to represent Sefton!

Having stormed to victory in a Sefton tournament earlier in the year, the girls were ready to take on new competition from around Merseyside. The impressiveness of the stadium - where both Liverpool Ladies and Everton Ladies train - was enough to get the girls motivated before their upcoming matches.

In total, 14 schools participated, all of which had won a previous tournament to qualify. The girls were placed into a group of 7 and played incredibly well, demonstrating determination, teamwork and fancy footwork throughout! After 6 tough matches, the girls emerged as winners of their group, winning 3 games and drawing the others, without ever conceding a goal!

The girls then played in a closely fought final where they just missed out on the top spot. Still, they were in high spirits as they reflected on all their achievements throughout the day, dominating their group matches and making it a final of a tournament that involved winning teams from around Merseyside. They received their silver medals and then were invited to attend a press conference with two footballers from Everton Ladies (Claudia Walker and Amber Stobbs), a match analyst (Megan Woods) and Liverpool Ladies FC Development Squad manager (Vicky Jepson).

As always, the girls were credits to the school! They played incredibly and represented Churchtown Primary well! Good work, girls!
