The girls have done us proud! More fantastic results for the children of Churchtown Primary School.
Year 6 girls had a glorious afternoon on Wednesday, coming 2nd in their final Year 6 tournament. The tournament celebrated, not only the childrens love of the sport, but also all of the hard work and dedication the girls have put in over their final year with us at Churchtown.
In their first match the girls played fearlessly against their friendly rivals Farnborough Road. Maddie, our very talented goal shooter and Alex, our equally talented goal attack, were a force to be reckoned with throughout the match. Despite having a clear height disadvantage to the opposing team, the girls deservingly drew 4-4.
In a back to back match. Bishop David Shepards were the next team to play. Despite the girls exhaustion, Churchtown won 7-1 which left us joint 1st with Shoreside Primary School. This head to head match was the decider, the girls just missed out on their chance of claiming 1st place, but were over the moon to have secured 2nd place against many other Sefton schools.
Throughout the afternoon, the girls showed grit, determination and amazing sportsmanship. Fellow supporters Mrs Keen and many excitable parents came along to support the girls through each of their matches, in true Churchtown style. This was an amazing result for the girls with them all bringing a different competitive edge to each match they played.
