Sefton School of the Year for Sport 2017

On Wednesday 12th July, Churchtown Primary School attend the Sefton Sports Awards 2017.

Churchtown Primary School were nominated for School of the Year for their commitment to providing excellent opportunities for children in sport. It was the first category of the night and Churchtown won! What a  fantastic achievement. Erin and George from Year 6 attended the evening along with Miss Lucas, Mr King, Miss Morris, Mr Bateman and Mrs Payne. Erin got the opportunity to read out her speech, which was very well received and appreciated by the audience.

At Churchtown, we encourage children to IMAGINE, BELIEVE and ACHIEVE through PE. We inspire children to engage in sports through lessons, clubs, charity events, local community links and projects. Walk to Rio was a whole school initiative which involved walking the miles to Rio collectively. We hold yearly charity week where we use sports as our motivation. Inspirational sports people are a key part of allowing children to IMAGINE what they can ACHIEVE, planning high quality, inclusive PE lessons and allowing children the opportunity to lead in PE allows them to BELIEVE they can reach their full potential.

Thank you to Miss Lucas for her lead on sports in the school, the opportunities we provide for children in all different sports is excellent, it was a truly well deserved award. Thank you also to the team that have supported Miss Lucas in sports this year, we couldn't have done it without your help!
