Update on Academisation

Letter from Chair of Governors

26thNovember

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to update you on the Academisation of Churchtown Primary School.

You will recall that I previously wrote to you on 14th September to advise of the Governing Board’s intention to commence a consultation period with parents and carers regarding the proposed conversion to academy status.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the consultation has now finished and to confirm the outcome.

We received two emails from parents during the consultation period and the meeting on Monday 1st October was attended by three parents of two children at the school, the minutes of this meeting can be found on the school website under About Us - Academisation.

On behalf of the Governing Board, I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has contributed to the consultation and to assure you that we have taken account of all views that have been communicated to us.

I can now confirm that after extensive consideration and research the Governing Board of Churchtown Primary School has decided that it would be in the best interests of the school to proceed with the conversion to an Academy and to join Endeavour Learning Trust with Tarleton Academy and Burscough Priory Academy.

The date of conversion has been set for 1st February 2019, however we will let you know should this date change for any reason.

For pupils, parents and carers, staff and governors, the day to day running of the school, its leadership and governance will not feel any different but the benefits to the school of academisation will be evident to all concerned.

We are committed, as we have said before, to ensuring that in making this change, the ethos, values and individuality of our school will be retained. Although we will be part of the Endeavour Learning Trust we will continue to provide our excellent broad and balanced curriculum, extra-curricular programme, pastoral support and exciting opportunities while at the same timebeing able to take more control over the strategy and direction of our school and to have the opportunity to collaborate closely withlike-minded schools who share our commitment to securing the best outcomes for our children.

Yours Sincerely

Lisa Greenhalgh

Chair of Governors
