The Queen's 90th birthday celebrations!
The Queen's 90th Birthday celebrations!
What a fabulous time we all had on Friday as 890 children throughout school were invited to attend an ‘Afternoon Tea’ style party to celebrate HRH The Queen’s 90th birthday.
The hall was decorated with bunting, flags and table decorations all in red, white and blue to create a street party atmosphere. Each year group had the opportunity to enjoy jam sandwiches, cake and juice while listening to music from ‘The Last Night of the Proms’. The children also had fun playing ‘pin the tail on the Corgi’ and having their photos taken with fun props in the photo booth!
Throughout the day, the children joined in a range of craft activities such as; designing a birthday cake for the Queen and decorating knickers to make bunting, after classes read the story ‘The Queen’s Knickers’!
In the afternoon, two of our school Governors Mrs Tudor and Mrs Hornby, who were visiting for Governor’s open day, had the very difficult job of judging the birthday card competition entries. It was a hard decision as they had so many magnificent designs to choose from. The overall winner was Jessica Harrison and the runners up were Daniel Prescott-Corfield and Olivia Myerscough. Jessica was presented with a £10 WHSmith voucher, Daniel and Olivia both received a £5 Thorntons voucher. All three cards with be posted to The Queen and a copy of Jessica’s will be displayed in school. Well done to all the children who took part.
Thank you to everyone who took part in our celebrations and Churchtown PTA for their generous donations of cake and drinks.
