U20 Rugby World Cup!

Children in Years 5 and 6 (as well as a few familiar Year 8 boys!) made their way to Manchester last night to watch the Rugby World Cup!

As a reward for their 100% attendance at the school's rugby club this year, 10 boys left school early in the school minibus with Mr Bateman, Mr King and Mr Walton and travelled to the AJ Bell Stadium. Two of these boys included past pupils, Owen Barnes and Tom Crompton, who were founding members of Churchtown's first rugby team and still attend the club to teach the current pupils.

Once we had parked up and explored the outside of the stadium, we found our seats as Argentina's match against Japan came to an end. We were then treated to New Zealand's closely fought battle against Wales and the first half of England's match against Australia. The boys were enthusiastic throughout, even sparking a friendly rivarly with the parents of some of the Australian players who had sat next to us!
