Author Visits

Having regular author visits allows us to increase children's interests in books, help them understand how books are produced and boost the confidence of aspiring writers in our school.

To celebrate Children's Book Week 2021 we had a different local author visit each year group from Nursery all the way up to Year 6. Children listened to extracts from stories, learnt how the stories had been created and were able to ask their burning questions to real life authors. They also had the opportunity to purchase books.

On 8th December 2021, children were visited by Susan Brownrigg. She gave a fantastic talk all about the inspiration for her books which are based on historical discoveries.

On 11th February 2022 , children had a virtual visit with American author Carlie Sorosiak. Carlie has written many books, one of which we were particularly interested in called 'Roar Like a Lion' which is all about how animals can help us deal with our feelings.

To celebrate World Book Day 2022 we have virtual author visits booked for all classes from Year 1 all the way up to Year 6 (whilst Nursery and Reception enjoy their trip to the theatre). This time the authors are not local but have written some very popular fiction that can be found on many bookshop shelves.
