Every year, Year 5 children are offered the opportunity to attend a residential trip to Robinwood, located at Dobroyd Castle in Todmorden. The adventure lasts three days with the main objectives of the trip being:
- Team work - We aim for children to develop and reflect on their teamwork, communication, problem solving and leadership skills.
- Confidence - We aim for children to gain and reflect on their personal confidence and self-esteem through taking on challenges and achieving success.
- Social awareness - We aim for children to develop and reflect on self-awareness, social skills and appreciation of the contributions and achievements of themselves and others.
The children are able to work in mixed groups and also take part in team challenges as a whole cohort. Members of staff are assigned to each group to encourage and support the children, along side the staff at Robinwood. The children always leave Dobryod Castle with valuable skills and memories, having been able to participate in the range of activities offered, including: canoeing, obstacle courses, trapeze and caving.

Year 4 parents will be invited to an initial Robinwood meeting in November and the trip will take place in September when the children move up to Year 5.
We always have a great time and this year was no exception!
